Sweet Bread with Brandied Raisins
 
Recipe instructions: Start by dissolving the yeast in tepid water in a large bowl. Then stir in the sugar, raisins, orange zest, oil, egg, brandy and then add enough flour to make a soft dough. Then place the dough on to a floured surface; then knead the dough until it becomes smoothe and elasic. That should take between 10 and 15 mins. Then place this on a greased tray or sheet pan with parchment paper. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place which should take about an hour. Then heat the oven to 350 degrees centigrade and bake until the bread is golden brown. This should take between 30 and 35 mins. Cool the bread on a wire rack. Then make a simple syrup by bringing the sugar and water to a boil, and then brush this over the bread.
